- Radio 1 is the current-affairs radio service of the Flemish public broadcaster VRT. Its editorial remit includes general news, politics, sport, culture and science, with interviews and analysis alongside news bulletins. It also develops spoken audio for on-demand listening. [1]
- Music is part of the service, not a replacement for its news output. The broadcaster describes a selection spanning new and classic pop and rock, folk, blues, jazz and world music, with particular attention to Belgian releases and Dutch-language recordings. [2]
- The station works with VRT NWS to integrate developing news into its schedule. Its sports coverage includes live reporting and analysis, including cycling and football. Cultural conversations, books and artist interviews also appear across the service; this is not a music-only channel. [3]
